“I can buy you, your friends, and this club!” That was Anne Curtis screaming while pointing her fingers as if berating TV host Phoemela Baranda.

Unfortunately, this is not a scene from a movie or from a TV series. This is for real. And it is just another proof that in wine there is truth.

Anne had a drink too many when she went to a typical Friday night party that she organized for a friend.

It was the night of November 22 at Prive Luxury Club, in The Fort, Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City. And before you jump into any conclusion, the incident really happened and Anne herself admitted and confirmed it.

It was Anne versus another group of people, which included John Lloyd Cruz, Phoemela, Jake Cuenca and four other non-showbiz people who were from the society pages.

Also in the table with the group was former TV host and stage actor JM Rodriguez, who incidentally owns and manages the bar. Also in the group was JR Isaac, the publisher and editor of Circuit Magazine, which covers parties, events, and places of the rich and famous.

Anne was there because she organized a bachelorette for a friend who is about to get married. She and her group were assigned to the VIP section at the second floor of the bar.

Incidentally, John Lloyd’s group was also in the same floor, sharing the other portion of the VIP section. But the two factions were totally separated.

The incident

Unfortunately, there was only one comfort room in the floor and it was the start of the commotion.

Two of the non-showbiz friends from the group of John Lloyd went to the CR, where Anne was also in at that time.

The moment they entered the CR, Anne was immediately agitated, asking with a loud voice:

"Who's banging my door??!"

Right there and then, she confronted the two and slapped each of them as hardly as she could. She was also making so much noise that she started attracting attention and in the process, making a commotion in the area.

That was when John Lloyd and Phoemela got into the picture to check on their friends.

Slapping John Lloyd And Phoemela

But upon seeing John Lloyd, Anne immediately slapped him and told him he was an ‘addict.’ Then, she turned to Phoemela and slapped her, too. Pointing her hand at Phoemela the way she pointed her hand at John Lloyd, that was when she uttered the famous line:

“I can buy you, your friends, and this club!” Anne screamed.

Everyone from John Lloyd’s group was shocked. Anne even turned to JM, the bar owner, who was trying to pacify her. As expected, she turned her anger to him and told him that the bar was a sloppy one.

"You know, this is the worst club to have a party!" Anne screamed to JM.

JM reverberated and told her his bar was trying to be very nice to her. JM also reminded Anne that he and his team were taking care of her and her group all throughout that event.

Many Witnesses

The incident was witnessed by a lot of people. Anne looked like she was drunk but she seemed not drunk enough to be that rowdy. That was what surprised them.

Anne, who has always been projecting the nice and wholesome image to the public, is very unlikely to conduct herself like that. To some who witnessed, Anne looked like she was the most horrible villainess they have ever seen.

Anne did not stop there. She even demanded to the bar to make John Lloyd’s group leave the place.

But as it turned out, his group simply stayed and continued to enjoy the night, while Anne was ushered out by bouncers and was forced to leave the place. It was also noted that John Lloyd, being the gentleman that he really is, did not even say a word during and after Anne’s incident.

"John Lloyd never said anything the whole time. He kept quiet. He was a gentleman, like I said. Jake? I don't know where Jake was. I don't know anymore, maybe he didn't witness what happened? Commotion na!" JR said.

Apologies Accepted

The following day, fresh from her hangover, Anne reached out to JR and apologized through text. She said she got his number through a common friend. JR, being the forgiving person, immediately gave his forgiveness to Anne.

Anne said: "JR! It's Anne. Got your number from Monique! Tried messaging you on Facebook this morning. Just want to apologize for my behavior! I'm so so so sorry. I'm so ashamed :( would never act like that in the right state of mind! I'm so sorry. Please forgive me!"

JR replied back:

"Hi Anne, just woke up and read your text. Apology accepted... On a lighter note, you owe me a tight hug!!! Going back to sleep, nursing my hang over."

He did not elaborate if they met again after the incident. But reports about the commotion spread like wildfire especially across the social media. It is still amazing how it did not become as noisy as it should be.

But right now, what matters is that it is true and that Anne took the responsibility over her inappropriate action.

Anne’s Official Statement

In fact, before the issue blows out of proportion, Anne has just released an official statement through Twitter on December 1, Sunday. She tried to assure her disappointed fans that without the spirit of alcohol, she would never behave that way. She also reminded everyone that as a human being, it is also but natural for her to commit mistakes. Here's a screenshot of her tweets:

Will the public be that forgiving towards her? Now, we know, we should not immediately think that nice people are really nice from within. Good people would never turn bad even if they are under the influence of alcohol. Or could it be that Anne took another substance that made her lose control of her temper that night? Just asking.
