Marc Pingris failed to get two of two Saturday night at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum as his squad lost to Chris Tiu’s team during the Master Game Face Challenge, 135-110.

After helping out the San Mig Super Coffee Mixers win Game 2 of their semifinals duel with the Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters earlier in the night, Pingris acted as Team Marc’s coach during the all-star event that featured Kevin Love joining both teams for a Three-Point Shootout.

Chris Ellis led all scorers and helped Team Chris get the victory. The high-flying member of the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings dropped 31 points, shooting 15 of 22 from the field. He also added eight rebounds and two steals.

Backing him up for Team Chris were Mike Tolomia with 20, Cliff Hodge and Chris Newsome with 13 each, and Mark Cruz with 12.

Team Marc on the other hand was led by Greg Slaughter with 27 points, nine rebounds, and three assists. Slaughter nailed three of five triples in the second quarter to keep his squad on the game but Team Chris was just too good in the second half.

JC Intal added 20 for Team Marc while RR Garcia added 17. Amateurs Andre Paras and Jericho Cruz combined for 22.

Greg Slaughter, Cliff Hodge, Mark Cruz, Mike Tolomia, and Chris Ellis were named the Mythical Five of the all star game.
Among the five, Slaughter won the game's Most Valuable Player Award even if he was from the losing side.

The youngsters started the game for both squads as only NCAA and UAAP players were in the first five. Although Team Marc got the first lead after a basket from Andre Paras, Team Chris quickly wrested the control of the game with their fast breaks.

Back to back threes from Greg Slaughter cut Team Chris’ lead somewhat to 53-35. The big guy added another three and a floater off a gorgeous sidestep move to inch Team Marc closer at 55-43.

After being down by a mile, Team Marc was only down by eight points, 59-51, at the half.

Team Marc inched even closer in the third quarter as a triple from Jared Dillinger slide their deficit to two points at 65-63. However, Team Chris flashed its might in later on featuring an aerial attack from Chris Ellis.
