Weather bureau PAGASA is keeping an eye on Tropical Storm 'Halong' (international name), which will be named 'Jose' once it enters the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
The weather disturbance was last estimated 1,740 kilometers east of Central Luzon, with maximum sustained winds of 85 kilometers per hour near the center as it slowly moves west northwest.
'Halong' is expected to enter PAR Monday or Tuesday next week.
Meantime, Metro Manila, incuding North Caloocan, Novaliches, Valenzuela, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac, and portions of Batangas are experiencing light to moderate rains this morning, with rains turning heavy at times.
Monsoon rains are expected to prevail in Zambales and Bataan as we continue to experience effects of the enhanced southwest monsoon.
PAGASA warns Metro Manila, the rest of Central Luzon, the regions of Ilocos, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol, and Western Visayas will experience occasional rains into the weekend as two near-lying weather disturbances influence the southwest monsoon: Tropical Storm 'Inday,' known by its international name 'Nakri,' on one hand; and Tropical Storm 'Halong' on the other.
'Inday' is now directly affecting Japan after leaving PAR Thursday afternoon.
The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.
Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest will prevail throughout the entire archipelago and the coastal waters will be moderate to rough.
